S.O.A.P. – “Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer”

What’s the latest “storm” you and/or your family has faced?
  • Of the hardships that Spurgeon faced (as described in the article), which one sounded the most difficult? Which one could you resonate with the most?
  • If someone asked you why God allows bad things to happen to his people, how might you answer?
  • Psalm 46:1-2 says that “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (NIV). Can you think of a time in your life in which you experienced God as your “refuge and strength”? How did he help you during that time?

Lord, when I go through a season of suffering, I pray that I would experience you as my shelter in the storm. Remind me of your faithfulness. In such seasons, let me cling to you and grow in my faith. I trust in you, and I trust that you are doing something good even in tough seasons.
