What are a few of the basic things you need every day to survive?

What line of the Lord’s Prayer is easiest for you pray? What part is the hardest for you?
Jeremy writes, “Nothing is too big for God, but nothing is too small for him, either.” What does he mean by this?
How can “Give us today our daily bread” become a prayer of solidarity (e.g., solidarity with people who are poor)?

Lord, we ask that You would give us this day our daily bread. We depend on You for everything good in our lives. And we are grateful to You for continuing to provide what we need each day. Teach us not to place our hope in our possessions, but in You. We want to keep coming back to you each day as our source of goodness and life. For those of us (in our church and community) who aren’t doing okay financially, we pray that You would give them their daily bread too.

Daniel McCoy, “Keep Speaking These Unspeakable Words”

“Sin.” “Hell.” “The way to ” These are examples of words and phrases in the Bible that some people wish you would never talk to them about. What makes these ideas less popular to talk about than, say, God’s love and grace?
When Jesus told the Parable of the Good Samaritan, he asked which man turned out to be the neighbor to the injured man. What word did the religious leader not want to say in answer to Jesus’ question? Why not?
The article says, “God’s ways will always stretch you farther than you feel comfortable with.” In what ways has this been true in your life?

Lord, we need your truth. It is Your truth which guides us so that our paths lead to life and not destruction. Even when it comes to truth we don’t want to hear, we need it. Give us humility to hear uncomfortable truth and give us courage and kindness to speak uncomfortable truth.

When is the last time you realized that you had drifted apart from an important relationship? What did you do to bring the relationship back together?

Lord, I need more time with You. You are my light and my life. You are my fortress and my deliverer. You are the vine, and I am a branch. I need You like I need air to breathe and water to drink. Please open my eyes for opportunities to spend time with You and give me the courage to clear time in my schedule so that I can spend more time connecting with You.

Does God care about what you do with your body?

Jonathan Storment, “Theology of the Body: What the Bible Teaches About the Importance of Bodies”

What does the beginning of Genesis teach us about the importance of humans?
In the article, Jonathan writes, “The problem with the secular view of the body and sex is that it separates the soul from the body.” What does he mean by this?
1 Corinthian 6:20 says, “Honor God with your bodies.” Are there any areas in which you need to do a better job of honoring God with your body? For context, Paul is talking in 1 Corinthians 6 about the dangers of sexual immorality.

Lord, please remind me that I’m not just a soul, but that I also live in a body. You gave me this body and you want me to take care of it and honor you with it. Open my eyes to ways in which I am mistreating my body or using it to do wrong things. I love You, and part of loving You is obeying and honoring You with the body You gave me.

Any time the Devil tries to bind us with his lies, we need to be able to speak the truth. Take some of the lies you’ve believed and respond to them with truth. Speak these truths out loud.

Lord, You speak truth. The Devil speaks lies. So many times, we’ve fallen for lies which have hurt us and which have hurt others. Please open our eyes to the truth we’ve been missing and give us the courage to believe it and live it and speak it in love to others
